Role Description- Full Time
Physician Assistant provides advanced medical care to patients in thoracic vascular and cardiac surgery setting under the direction of a well-established Practice located at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital Campus Responsibilities would include weekly in-office clinic, rounding on hospitalized in-patients daily, assisting in surgery, chart dictation and takes first call for physician.
The Physician Assistant will be responsible for providing preoperative and postoperative care, assisting in surgeries, conducting patient consultations, and coordinating with the medical team. Daily tasks include patient assessment, diagnostic evaluations, treatment planning, and patient education. The role also involves ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and maintaining thorough patient documentation.
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Conducts, standardized patient care procedures
2. Assesses patients’ medical complaints and provides appropriate treatment.
3. Performs minor surgical procedures as delegated by the supervising physician.
4. Manage pre-operative and post-operative patients in coordination with the faculty supervising.

5. Utilizes assessment skills to anticipate complex patient problems specific to surgery
while communicating information to supervising / attending physician.
6. Collects, test, procedures and patient histories and physicals.
7. Orders appropriate tests and interprets the data.
8. Monitors the treatment program of the patient to inform the attending physician of pertinent
medical/surgical information.
9. Provides guidance and instruction to patients on preventive health care or post-surgical care.
10. Assists physicians in formulating therapeutic decisions.
11Surgery assist when appropriate.
12. Enters the chart documentation for review and counter signature by the physician.
13. Prepares and cares for supplies and equipment.
14. Responds to emergency situations.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
License Texas License to practice as a Physician Assistant Certified (PA-C)
Certification issues by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants
Experience in surgical procedures and patient care
Strong diagnostic and clinical skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
Master’s degree in physician assistant studies. Bachelor’s degree in physician assistant studies with Thoracic Vascular Cardio. Will do training based on experience.
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
